SPUQC VS WCC: BASKETBALL MENS CHAMPIONSHIP

Metro Manila Athletic Conference was hosted this year by St. Paul University Quezon City started on September 24, 2016 — MMAC consists of six basketball teams namely: St. Paul University Quezon City, St. Paul University Manila, St. Jospeh College of Quezon City, Sienna College, Asian College and World Citi Colleges — these teams played a round-robin then followed by the single game for the championship. On November 6, 2016, SPUQC Basketball Mens compete with the World Citi Colleges Basketball Mens in the championship game held at Marikina Sports Complex and it starts at 10:30AM. SPUQC awarded as the first-runner up for the said game while the World Citi Colleges awarded as the champion for this year — this is the third championship game of the WCC. Thus, the Season MVP this year goes to Dominique Cordero from St. Paul University Manila and three Mythical five goes to St. Paul University Quezon City Felix Guntalilib, Christopher Ramos and Jhonmar Garniel.
The SPUQC Basketball Mens MVP, Raphael Yambao when asked what he felt about the championship game, he said “I feel very happy because our team stepped in the championship game against the defending champion and I’m really ready in that game because I know that WCC is our real rivarly in MMAC mens basketball. And, also I’m excited in that match.” He also added that they had a hard time competing the WCC in a reason of their heights, championship exposure and team chemistry. Yambao admits that their team just started last year thats why they didn’t have the championship title but at some point, the SPUQC Basketball Mens improved how they play against WCC. “My plan is to work hard and become a more motivated athlete and to always step up every game.”
As of now, the coach of the SPUQC BBM, Vis Valencia said that their plans to have the championship title next year is to make sure that the team is intact — they will prepare on summer on training and join tournaments for exposure. He also added that full potential of each player is needed and the his target is to improve the maturity not just of each player but also the maturity of the team. Additionally, Coach Vis is not that confident to have the championship title next year but he is hoping for that, “We have to work hard more. But I’m hoping for the championship title.”
